India made history at the Badminton Asia Under-17 & Under-15 Championships 2025, recording its best-ever performance as rising stars Shaina Manimuthu and Diksha Sudhakar claimed gold medals in their respective categories on Sunday.

In the U-15 girls’ singles final, Shaina defeated Japan’s Chiharu Tomita 21-14, 22-20, displaying exceptional composure and tactical skill. Meanwhile, in the U-17 girls’ singles final, Diksha outclassed compatriot Lakshya Rajesh 21-16, 21-9 to secure the top spot on the podium.

With these wins, India wrapped up the continental event with two gold, one silver, and two bronze medals — its best-ever haul at the championships. The previous record of two golds was set in 2013 when Siril Verma and the duo Chirag Shetty–MR Arjun triumphed in their respective categories.
