Dimapur, September 8: The Nagaland Badminton Team returned home victorious after an impressive performance at the North East Zone Inter State Badminton Championship 2025, held in Agartala, Tripura, from September 4 to 7.

The 22-member contingent, led by Team Manager Er. Moamongba Longchari and coached by Tajenkaba Ao and Raju Chetri, showcased remarkable talent across multiple categories, earning the state a proud collection of medals.

Before the tournament, the team underwent a 20-day intensive coaching camp at the K. Kire IPS Indoor Stadium, Police Complex, Chümoukedima, under the supervision of Nagaland Police coaches Talenkaba Ao and Raju Chetri. The preparation clearly paid off, as Nagaland’s players delivered standout performances against some of the best competitors from the Northeast region.

Strong Showing Across Events

According to the Nagaland Badminton Association (NBA), the athletes demonstrated “incredible skill and discipline,” resulting in medals in both team and individual events.

  • 🥉 Women’s Team Event: Bronze
  • 🥇 Senior Mixed Doubles: Peramrisi Zeliang & Debahuti Lahon – Gold
  • 🥉 Men’s Doubles: Peramrisi Zeliang & Teichang Eerie – Bronze
  • 🥈 Women’s Doubles: Debahuti Lahon & Shekhotolu Puro – Silver
  • 🥈 Junior Girls Singles: Kim Kim Khongsai – Silver
  • 🥉 Junior Girls Doubles: Kim Kim Khongsai & Ponlih A. Konyak – Bronze
  • 🥉 Junior Mixed Doubles: Merenternsu Temjen & Kim Kim Khongsai – Bronze

The NBA President and members extended heartfelt congratulations to all medal winners, as well as to the team manager and coaches for their dedication and contribution to the success.

Appreciation for Nagaland Police Support

The association also expressed special gratitude to Rupin Sharma, IPS, Director General of Police, Nagaland, and his team for their invaluable support. Acknowledgments were given to James Kinghen, IFS (DIGP Training and Camp Commandant), Ben Longkumer, NPS (CO NAM), and Aaron Patton, NPS (CO 1st NAP Battalion) for facilitating the training camp that helped the players prepare effectively.
